Events

Art Exhibitions and Events.

These range from running an art stall at a local country fayre, to gallery exhibitions where my work is shown, from open art exhibitions, themed art exhibitions and regular art gallery space where my paintings are rotated.  The local events and exhibitions are in and around Cardiff and the South Wales Valleys where I am based at my home studio in Nelson, Caerphilly.  They include Art Exhibitions, Artist in Residence days, Open Studio events.  The Annual Art Trail Week in the Valleys has sadly been discontinued.  Other fine art events, nationally and internationally are also included where my work is shown.  As the virtual world is gaining solidity in our real world, on line events and places may also be included here.

    Commissions and an Exhibition

My “busy” is different to normal busy. Living with ME/CFS is challenging at times and requires careful planning so that I don’t run out of steam altogether. So, my being “busy” might seem to others like being in the slow lane, but for me I have been busy with commissions and enjoying the challenge of the varied work I have been asked to do. This blog image is just a couple of the requests that I have been given permission to show.

My Microscope Painting "Hydrodictyon" donated to Twitter Art Exhibition 2021 Cheltenham

For the last seven years I have enjoyed being involved with TwitterArtExhibit, and each year it has grown in artist numbers. Each year it is hosted by a different organisation in aid of a different charity and in a different place around the world. I donate a small original piece of art which is exhibited along with hundreds of other artist. All the

While I’m reluctant to start booking at fairs again, I decided I would attend and support this one in my home village for two reasons:

My painting “I Am Woman” is in the Disability Arts Cymru Annual Touring Exhibition, and I am delighted it has been selected to tour around Wales with 25 art works by other artists.

The theme this year is “On The Edge”, and I chose my subject based on the fight for equality of women, and how even though it is 100 years since we were allowed to vote, we are still on the edge in many areas of the modern political and economic world. It is a statement and a celebration of I Am Woman.

Following months of studying pond water, flora and fauna under the microscope, The Invisible World Art Exhibition is finally coming to fruition.

A collection of my paintings will be on show at The Workers Gallery, Ynyshir in the South Wales Valleys with ceramic sculptures by Susan Zeppellini. My paintings represent the cellular structures of living plants and the invisible world I discovered in my garden birdbath, and

I am excited about preparing for an upcoming art exhibition this August 2018, at The Workers Art and Design Studio and Gallery, Ynyshir in the South Wales Valleys. I will be collaborating with ceramic artist, Susan Zeppellini on the theme of our natural world unseen. Early 2017, I was invited to take part in the creation of four art installations across North Wales and was sent a box. With the box, we were asked to make something that represented the state or contents of our minds. Tim Lliffe is the lead artist, and in collaboration with MOMA, Machynlleth and Disability Arts Cymru, an arts council award was given to carry out the project which will hopefully involve 1000 creatives.

This is a themed group art exhibition held at the Workers Gallery and Workshops. It is based on a poem "Alone In The Universe" by Mike Church. The launch event was a huge success crossing the boundaries of several art forms from poetry and music to the visual creations inspired by Mike's poem.

Cynon Valley Museum was a casualty in the cuts to spending, but community people power put it back on the map. I'm so pleased because not only does it have a great little museum of local interest, it has a lovely gallery space.

Art Week is happening! 9th to 15th July 2016 with pop up exhibitions throughout Ystrad Mynach and beyond. Because Dai the Digger is still in our garden (he's been there so long he now has a name!) and building works are ongoing at home, I've not been able to take part in the Open Studio events during the week, but I am taking part in the pop up exhibitions. A call out to local businesses was made for exhibition space to create the trail.

The Caerphilly Creatives Art Week 2015 Was A Success

Press coverage was great and the trail stretched across the entire borough. Here, in Nelson, the people who visited were genuinely interested in coming to see the art on show and meet the artists. I thoroughly enjoyed answering questions about the process of my work.

  •  The art stall set up at the country fairThe Art Stall  At The Country FairIt’s been a real experience doing the craft fairs and country shows, but they are incredibly exhausting, even when sharing a pitch for support. All weather planning is a must, from polythene sheeting to cover your work in case it rains, to shading to protect it from the burning sunshine.
