Yes, I've been quiet, and I’ve not shared much on social media lately, but sometimes we all need to take a break from the fast lane. I crawled into my shell for self-preservation.

I began to receive huge amounts of messages via social media that were scams, and even had my Instagram account cloned, which thankfully, Instagram deleted as soon as it was reported. I thank my followers for pointing this out to me so that I could report it. It is unnerving when you are targeted in this way, and having to constantly report and block scammers left me feeling whether the whole thing was worth it.

So, I decided to lay low and give myself a break from social media to see if things would quieten down. They have done thankfully, and now I’m thinking of picking up the threads again.

It’s a bit of a double-edged sword though. I want to get noticed, and hopefully, for people to appreciate my work. On the other hand, it also means that I’m “out there” to become a target again. It is becoming an ever-increasing crowded place out there and to get noticed, you need to be active on social media. At least this time, I think I’m better prepared.

It is such a shame the internet has a dark side. The World Wide Web is open to everyone, good and bad. It is a wonderful platform for all kinds of businesses to be seen and have the chance to do business that 35 years ago would not have been possible. But the darker side of this wonderful invention is becoming more and more apparent, and with the advent of Artificial Intelligence, we are moving into even more unknown territory. It just means I will have to be ever more cautious.
